Walk Against Hunger

wah 2007-2016

On May 1st, Emma and I completed our 10th annual Walk Against Hunger, coinciding with Boston’s 48th Walk For Hunger to raise money for the same great cause, Project Bread. Local NPR radio station WGBH interviewed us at the event and broadcast two segments of the interview on Morning Edition the next day.  Here are the anchor’s lead-ins and audio clips for both segments (each under a minute):

Segment 1:  Some 40,000 people participated in this May’s annual charity Walk For Hunger. It also marked the tenth year that two participants have made their own statement about the event.  Bruce Henderson told WGBH Radio’s Deb Daigle that he and his daughter have made a point of walking AGAINST hunger… Segment 2:  What’s with Boston’s annual “Walk FOR Hunger”??  Why not walk AGAINST hunger?  For ten years straight, Newton’s Bruce Henderson and his daughter Emma have been doing just that…walking the route in reverse.  Henderson spoke with WGBH’s Deb Daigle at yesterday’s (Sunday’s) 48th annual walk…

We’re a bit short of our goal, and there’s still time
to donate to Project Bread as part of our Walk Against Hunger:
